Exploring Fold-Forming – $80

Skills and techniques taught: Hammering, texturing, folding, filing and patina application.

Description: Bring exciting depth to your pieces by learning to use fold forming techniques that take advantage of the inherent plastic properties of metal. Fold forming is a technique of metalworking whereby metal is folded, repeatedly forged and annealed, and unfolded, at which stage it has a dramatic new three-dimensional form. In this workshop we will be exploring the application of fold forming and use of other various tools to create dimension and surface texture to two projects. The first will be a pair of earrings and the second will be a German silver, tab set pendant. Liver of sulfur will be applied as a final finish.

You WILL complete this project in class.

Kit: $20.00 – This cost is in addition to the class fee and is paid directly to the instructor
Kit includes: (3) patterned, German silver ovals, (3) oval copper blanks, 3 sets of copper shapes for earrings, 3 sets of stainless steel ear wires, (3) 17″ (plus 2″ extender) necklaces, and jump rings.

Skills Required: No fear of a torch.

Instructor Will Bring: Hammers, tri-pods, pliers, dappers, pickle/pot, files, steel block, brass brush, disposable gloves, patina and torches

Materials You are Required to Bring: Your favorite flat nose pliers and hammer if you like.

Skills and techniques taught: How to make a bezel to fit any cabochon stone. Stone setting. Soldering.

Description: Stone setting is an essential technique in jewelry making. In this class you’ll make a bezel for a stone then solder it to a backplate. You will add a decorative wire to surround the bezel and add a silver wire flourish to complete your design. After the piece has been tumbled to a beautiful shine you will set the stone. Everything you need for this class will be provided to you.

You WILL complete this project in class.

Kit: $50.00 – This cost is in addition to the class fee and is paid directly to the instructor in class.
Kit includes: Sterling silver sheet, sterling silver wire, sterling or fine silver bezel wire, stone cabochon, waxed cotton cord or stainless steel necklace Chain.

Supplies Provided by Instructor: Soldering supplies and soldering setup, pliers, cutters, hammers, pickle pot, pickling solution, bench grinder/polisher, torches, butane, silver wire, silver solder, sterling sheet, stone cabochons, tripods, stone setting tools. Typed instructions.  

Skills Required: None

Skills Required: Willingness and ability to use a small butane torch. Good motor skills.

Materials You are Required to Bring: No need to bring anything. Everything needed to complete this project will be provided in class.

Description: Create this beautiful Tree pendant in copper using Roxan’s colored pencil technique. Students will learn
how to apply color to metal, to enhance the overall beautiful appearance, rivet, and set a cabochon. No prior experience needed.

Kit includes:
 Prepared copper, cabochon, rivets, jump ring, chain and all material needed to complete this project in class.

Instructor Will Bring: All tools, hammers, files, pliers and other supplies to complete this project.

Skills and techniques taught: Basic sifted enameling, etching and the technique of applying Mason Stain for surface design.

Description: It’s always fun to expand your enameling skills. In this class you will learn how to incorporate Mason Stains with your enamel work and take it to a whole new level. Mason Stains are NOT enamel – they are unleaded pigment that contain no glass. Together we will enamel a copper disc and etch it to create a ‘tooth.’ From there we will draw a design and paint on the stains and seal the stain once cooled. You will then learn how to create a tab setting for your new pendant masterpiece.

You WILL complete this project in class.

Kit: $20.00 – This cost is in addition to the class fee and is paid directly to the instructor in class
Kit includes: 3 copper disc blanks, 3 patterned German silver discs, jump rings, (3) 17″ (plus 2″ extender) necklaces,
and a plastic container with samples of mason stains.

Skills Required: No fear of a torch.

Instructor Will Bring: Torches, tripods, trivets, enamels, stencils, propane gas cylinders, sifters, magazines, Whitney Roper punch,
center punch, pliers, pencils, pencil sharpener, Mason Stains, lacquer, shears, files, basic paint brushes, etch-all,
and tweezers.

Materials You are Required to Bring: For precision work, please bring a fine point paint brush.

Description: In this fun informative class students will learn how to create four different style beads using vintage new/old stock bottle caps. Using a metal disc cutter, and dapping block we will transform ordinary metal bottle caps into unique handmade beads. A bangle bracelet kit will be added for students to display their finished beads. This is for all skill levels. Each student will leave with as many beads as they wish to make during the class time.

You WILL complete this project in class.

Kit includes: Everything needed to complete project – bottle caps, hardware, embellishments, and findings.

Description: This necklace, small but full of life and dynamics, symbolizes the revival of life, the revival of the spirit and the revival of nature… In this necklace, agate, jade, beads, crystals, glass beads, pearls and leather are combined into a single picture. The long fringe adds agility and movement to this necklace, but without the fringe, it looks charming too. It can be made as a necklace on an elongated chain, as well as a shorter necklace that is worn under the collar. It is up to you to decide which of the options will be exactly yours, and I will help you in this decision.

Description: Create the look of an enameled piece without the use of a kiln! This amazing technique uses colored pencil and permanent ink to color a copper surface. In this workshop you will learn how to prepare copper to accept hand-applied color for a permanent effect, and how to use metal stamps, make a prong setting and patina to design a beautiful pendant you can be proud of. Beginners welcome! No prior skill or experience is needed.
