Every now and then, you come across a piece of jewelry that is timeless and looks great with jeans to formal wear.  THIS cuff is destined to be one of those pieces!  
In this class, you will be adding to your beautiful jewelry collection and learning essential jewelry-making skills.  
Techniques you will learn: 
*texturing metal 
*soldering decorative wire to a base without using excess solder 
*forming your cuff on a mandrel 
*tumbling your cuff to a gleaming shine 
All tools and equipment will be provided for students’ use so there is nothing additional needed to bring to class!

Description: 

Create the look of an enameled piece without the use of a kiln! This amazing technique uses colored pencil to color a copper surface. In the workshop you will learn how to prepare copper to accept hand-applied color for a permanent affect, and how to use metal stamps and patina to design a beautiful pendant you can be proud of. Beginners welcome! No prior skill or experience is needed.

You WILL complete this project in class.

Prepared copper shapes, several grades of sand paper, all other supplies needed to complete this project and written instructions.

Sleeping Mermaid is a bead embroidered bracelet with options to create a pendant too; created around a Sheri Mallery Porcelain mermaid as the focal. Using techniques of basic bead embroidery and freeform peyote will be used to create this beautiful piece of jewelry.

You will NOT complete this project in class.

Kit includes:
All materials for the project including a Sheri Mallery Porcelain mermaid as the focal. Each mermaid will have similar colors in pastels for her tail and hair. The cabochons provided will be pre glued including Czech components, shells, semi precious stones and various seed beads. Also included is black stiff felt for stitching, leather backing or painted canvas for the bracelet and a box clasp. Supplies for sharing will include E 6000.

Skills Required: Basic bead embroidery and peyote stitching will be helpful

Materials You are Required to Bring: Bead mats, task lamp, needles and thread of your choice, scissors and a hand tool to pull thread through material. I use short #10-11 needles, Fireline black 6 or 8 lbs

Skills and techniques taught: How to use Crackle Enamels. How to use the temperature the kiln is set to flow the enamels, mix regular ground glass and crackle enamel, placing your piece in the kiln and how to remove it from the kiln

Description:

Make a beautiful necklace or domed piece  with ready to use enamel on both sides of the copper. This is so you may start quickly to have time to concentrate on your piece.   It is unpredictable how the colors may flow making your Jewelry work a piece of art.  We will use beautiful Enamel powder over crackle Enamel, to make your design your very own original design. Crackle is a special  enamel medium that uses ground glass to move the top layers of enamel.  Make a distorted design in your masterpiece.  Crackle will make an original that will not be able to be reproduced, you will create an original!  We will start with pre enameled domed disc, or a necklace.  You can wear your design home and it can accessorize your favorite outfit. This will be a fun and relaxing class.

Copper Piece enameled on the front and back (counter Enamel) of the piece, Chain to finish your necklace to wear, 4 Jump rings to attach chain to copper backing and clasp, clasp for closing the chain, Use of crackle enamel powders, for your piece during class. Everything needed to have a completed piece to wear home. Welding Gloves to protect your hands and arms, from the heat of the Kiln, firing fork, trivet, rack sifters, pliers. All Enamels to complete project. Masks will be provided for the Enamel powders to protect you from breathing in the dust.

For student safety, it is suggested to wear a natural fiber shirt with short sleeve, preferably cotton tee shirt. Avoid loose and flowing clothes. Tie back long hair, wear close toed shoes like tennis shoes.

I’m rummaging through my stash of stones and they seem to be patiently waiting for their turn to shine in a setting made just for them.  Maybe you have some stones in your stash that are waiting to be used in a beautiful piece of jewelry. If you want to learn how to prong or bezel set a stone, this class is for you.  You’ll learn how to solder the prongs and bezel to set your choice of cabochons.  

Arrive early to choose your cabochon. 

There’s nothing you need to bring to class!  You’ll be provided with everything you need for this project.   

Wear closed toe shoes, tie back long hair, and don’t wear loose flowing clothing.

Skills Required: Steady hands and able to hold and swing a 16oz hammer
