Technique: Niobium/Anodizing/Cold Connections
Skills and techniques taught: Anodizing, metalworkings, cold connections, creating findings from sheet & wire
Description: Cut, saw, file, and sand anodized niobium sheet. Make a combination hinge and bail from the niobium and rivet it to your niobium pieces. Hammer texture on the top pieces and punch decorative holes. Bath anodizing gives you a base color. Use our “painting with sandpaper” technique to give your textured piece visual excitement. Rivet your pieces all together. Cute wire dangles complete the look. Then attach your chain and wear.
You WILL complete this project in class.
Kit: $45 – This cost is in addition to the class fee and is paid directly to the instructor
Kit includes: 2 x 3″ 26 ga. unanodized niobium sheet, 6″ – 18 ga. unanodized niobium wire, 3″ – 16 ga. unanodized niobium wire,
12″ – 20 gauge niobium wire, 18″ aluminum chain, and a 3M sanding pad.
Skills Required: Basic experience with metalsmithing tools
Instructor Will Bring: Anodizers, mini grabbers, rivet hammers, texture hammers, pliers, wire cutters, bench blocks, metal shears, 1.5mm hole punch pliers, sawframes and sawblades, hand and needle files, bail making pliers, Mighty Punch, fine point markers, 6″ rulers
